Tagwren Privacy Policy
Effective: October 19, 2026. Publisher: Front Porch Puzzle Press ("we"). This policy covers the Tagwren app for Shopify and the consignor earnings pages it serves.
Tagwren helps consignment and resale shops on Shopify track which products belong to which consignor, work out each consignor's share of every sale, record payouts and send monthly statements. A shop ("merchant") installs Tagwren from the Shopify App Store. We process data on the merchant's behalf and only to run the app.
What Tagwren receives from Shopify
- Shop details: the shop's name, myshopify domain, currency and time zone.
- Orders, without the buyer: when an order is paid, cancelled or refunded, Shopify sends Tagwren the order number, dates, line items (product, variant, SKU, quantity, price, discounts, tax) and refund lines. Tagwren asks Shopify to leave buyer fields out of these messages, and it never requests or stores a customer's name, email, phone, address or customer ID.
- Products: the titles, SKUs, barcodes and prices of the products the merchant assigns to consignors.
- A Shopify access token for the shop, stored so the app can act for the merchant (for example to apply scheduled markdowns or create a gift card).
What the merchant enters
- Consignor records: name, code, and optionally email, phone and notes, plus split and fee settings. These are the merchant's own business contacts; the merchant is responsible for having a basis to share them with us.
- Payout records: amounts, method and notes. For store-credit payouts Tagwren creates a Shopify gift card and keeps only its last characters; the full code is shown once to the merchant and is not stored by us.
What Tagwren does with it
Calculates consignor balances, shows them to the merchant, applies the price markdowns the merchant schedules, adds consignor tags to products if the merchant turns that on, creates gift cards the merchant asks for, and produces statements. Nothing else. No analytics, tracking, advertising or profiling; no selling or sharing of data; no use of data to train AI or machine-learning models.
Consignor earnings pages
Each consignor can be given a private link to a read-only page with their items for sale, sales, payouts and PDF statements. The link contains a signed code; anyone who has the link can view that page, so it should be shared only with the consignor. The merchant can reset a link at any time, which stops the old one working, or turn the pages off. These pages set no cookies and load no third-party trackers.
Where data is kept, and who processes it
- Railway (hosting and the PostgreSQL database), in the United States.
- Shopify, which the merchant already uses; Tagwren reads from and writes to the merchant's store through Shopify's Admin API.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to production systems is limited to the publisher.
Retention and deletion
- While the app is installed, data is kept so balances and statements stay complete.
- When the merchant uninstalls Tagwren, the Shopify access token is deleted at once. Shopify then sends a deletion request 48 hours later, and every record for that shop (consignors, items, sales, payouts, settings) is permanently deleted when it arrives. Reinstalling within those 48 hours keeps the data.
- Customer data requests and customer erasure requests from Shopify are answered; because Tagwren holds no customer data, there is nothing to report or erase.
- A consignor who wants their record removed should ask the shop, which can delete or edit it, or the shop can ask us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port personal data. Merchants can exercise these directly in the app or by contacting us. Consignors should contact the shop first, since the shop decides what is recorded about them; we will help the shop respond.
Children
Tagwren is a business tool for shop owners and is not directed to children under 13.
