Nonogram Puzzle Books

Nonograms, also sold as griddlers, hanjie or picross, are logic puzzles that draw a picture. Each row and column has a list of numbers telling you how many squares in a row to shade, in order. Work out which squares must be filled and which must stay blank, and an image appears: a barn owl, a sailboat, a teapot.

They are a good fit for people who like sudoku but want a reward at the end, and for anyone who prefers reasoning to word knowledge. No spelling, no trivia, no arithmetic beyond counting.

Our nonogram books are printed in large print on full-size 8.5 x 11 pages, so the grids and clue numbers stay readable even in the bigger puzzles. Each volume sticks to one theme and moves from quick warm-ups to larger challenge grids. Every puzzle is computer-checked to have exactly one solution you can reach by logic alone, so you never need to guess, and each book opens with a how-to page and closes with the full solutions. Crime Scene Nonograms adds a murder mystery on top: each finished picture is a piece of evidence. New to the format? Our beginner's guide to solving nonograms covers the three techniques that do most of the work.
