Tailquill: footnotes and endnotes for Google Docs™

Google Docs has footnotes but no endnotes, and its footnotes ignore your font. Tailquill adds endnotes you can undo, footnotes that match your text, notes you can cite twice, and real Word endnotes for your publisher.

What it does

How it works

  1. Write with ordinary footnotes in Google Docs (Insert > Footnote).
  2. Open Extensions > Tailquill and choose Convert footnotes to endnotes, or Open Tailquill for the options.
  3. Edit > Undo, version history or Restore real footnotes reverse it.

Free and Pro

Converting up to 25 notes per document, restoring footnotes, matching footnotes to the body text and reviewing notes are free. Tailquill Pro costs $9.99, paid once, and is bought from inside the add-on: any number of notes, chapter restarts, cite a note again and real Word endnotes. There's no subscription and nothing renews.

Private by design

Tailquill works on the document you have open, under your own account. It never needs the document shared and never asks you to make it "anyone with the link can edit". There's no server, no tracking and no analytics; the only outside request is checking a Pro license key with Gumroad, and the .docx tool never uploads your file. Read the privacy policy and terms.
