Wedding Crossword Clue Ideas: 40 Clues About the Couple
A "Sip & Solve" crossword is a crossword about the couple that guests work on during cocktail hour: on a big welcome sign, on cards at each table, or on a sheet at every place setting. The hardest part is not the grid; it is thinking of good clues. Here are 40 clue ideas to borrow, grouped by topic, plus tips for a crossword your guests can actually finish.

Tips for a crossword guests can finish
- 12 to 16 answers is the sweet spot. Fewer looks thin on a big sign; many more and the clues get crowded on a table card.
- Mix easy and hard. Put in a few answers every guest knows (the couple's last name, the wedding month) so every table gets a start.
- Keep answers short. 4 to 10 letters fit best. Two-word answers are joined in the grid, so say so in the clue: "Their favorite dessert (2 words)".
- Pick answers that share letters. A crossword needs words that can cross each other. Ordinary words (BOSTON, TACOS, PARIS) cross easily; long names with rare letters are harder to fit.
- Write clues that make people smile. "Plays it, loudly, at every party" (GUITAR) gets a laugh and an answer.
- Plan the reveal. Read the answers out during the toasts, or set the answer key by the sign halfway through the night.
