Welcome to Villaclara, a small town with a busy plaza, a bakery that opens before sunrise, a train station, a market and plenty of curious neighbors. In these 12 original short stories you will find a lost dog, a mysterious box under a tree, a job interview that starts badly, a secret family recipe, a suitcase that belongs to someone else, and a night when all the lights go out.

Every story is written in simple, natural Spanish for beginners (CEFR A1–A2), and each one is a little harder than the one before. The first stories use only the present tense; later ones add ir a + infinitive, the preterite and a first look at the imperfect.
