Spurgeon’s beloved daily devotional, complete and unabridged, in clear large print.

For more than 150 years Christians have begun and ended their days with Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening. Each short reading takes a single verse of the King James Bible and opens it with warmth, vivid pictures and deep comfort, written by the “Prince of Preachers” who knew sorrow and weakness from the inside.

This is Volume 1: January–June, with every morning and evening reading for those six months. The complete year is in two volumes so each book stays comfortable to hold; Volume 2 (July–December) completes the set.

Made for easy reading. Every word is at least 16.5 point, set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute for readers with low vision, with generous line spacing, clear date headings and a sun or moon mark for Morning and Evening.

Helpful, not intrusive. Spurgeon’s words and his King James quotations are printed exactly, with no modernizing. Short notes after many readings explain old words (such as camphire, sackbut and froward) and the people and books he mentions, from John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress to the Puritan Samuel Rutherford. A new introduction tells the story of Spurgeon’s life, and the indexes let you find any verse or any day in seconds.

A thoughtful gift for parents, grandparents, church shut-ins and anyone whose eyes are tired of small print.
