Free Veterans Day Word Search Printable, Large Print
A large print Veterans Day word search and a word scramble with a hint for every word. Answer keys included, ready to print for November 11.
Veterans Day falls on November 11 every year, and these two free puzzles are an easy way to mark it. Honoring Our Veterans is a 13 x 13 large print Veterans Day word search with 15 words, from Armistice and Purple Heart to dog tags, mess hall and reveille, running across, down and diagonally but never backwards.
The Thank You for Serving word scramble has ten words from military life (corporal, barracks, platoon), each with a short hint. Every letter on every page is at least 16 point, and both answer keys are included.
For the rest of the month, see our November activities for seniors guide.
The printables
How activity directors use it
Many communities hold a short Veterans Day program: a flag ceremony, a moment of silence and a thank-you for the veterans who live there. Put the word search on the tables before the program and read the scramble aloud afterward as a group game. The words are good conversation starters: ask who remembers basic training, mess hall food or a letter from home, and let the veterans in the room tell their stories.
Printing and sharing
Printing tip: when the print window opens, choose Actual size or 100% so the letters print as large as they were made (every letter is at least 16 point). Make as many copies as you need for your family, residents or group.
Newsletter editors: you are welcome to reprint these puzzles in a free senior center, library, church or community newsletter, as long as the credit line at the foot of the page stays on. Please don't sell them or post the PDF files elsewhere; link to this page instead. Want puzzles sized for your layout every issue? See free puzzles for your newsletter.
