Thanksgiving Trivia for Seniors (Free Printable)

A 15-question Thanksgiving trivia quiz and a 10-statement true-or-false round, in large print, with answers. Every fact was checked against published sources.

These Thanksgiving trivia questions for seniors are written to be read aloud to a group or solved alone with a pencil. The Thanksgiving Trivia quiz has 15 multiple-choice questions, from "Franksgiving" and the first official turkey pardon to Norman Rockwell's famous turkey dinner. The True or False round has 10 quick statements (can wild turkeys fly?) with a one-line explanation for each answer, so the leader never has to guess.

Each question has three choices, which keeps it friendly: everyone has a fair chance and nobody is put on the spot. We checked every answer against at least one published source before printing, and we keep the list of sources on file.

Pair the quiz with our free large print Thanksgiving word search, and see 15 easy Thanksgiving activities for seniors for the rest of the week.

How activity directors use it

A trivia hour with these two sheets runs about 30 to 40 minutes for a group of 6 to 20. Read each question slowly, read all three choices, then pause. Let people call out answers or play in tables of three or four with one person writing. The true-or-false round is a good warm-up because it moves fast and gets everyone talking. Keep score loosely, or not at all; the stories that come out (who carved the turkey, which relative always brought the pie) are the real point.

For residents who tire of reading, print the questions for yourself only and let the group answer out loud.

Printing and sharing

Printing tip: when the print window opens, choose Actual size or 100% so the letters print as large as they were made (every letter is at least 16 point). Make as many copies as you need for your family, residents or group.

Newsletter editors: you are welcome to reprint these puzzles in a free senior center, library, church or community newsletter, as long as the credit line at the foot of the page stays on. Please don't sell them or post the PDF files elsewhere; link to this page instead. Want puzzles sized for your layout every issue? See free puzzles for your newsletter.
