Plotfinch Privacy Policy

Effective: October 19, 2026. Publisher: Front Porch Puzzle Press ("we").

Plotfinch is a Google Sheets add-on that geocodes addresses, reverse geocodes coordinates, measures distances and exports KML files. It runs entirely inside Google Apps Script under your Google account. We do not operate a server for Plotfinch, and no spreadsheet data is ever sent to us.

What Plotfinch accesses

  • The spreadsheet you open it in, and only that spreadsheet (Google scope spreadsheets.currentonly). Plotfinch reads the columns you choose and writes results into columns you choose.
  • Addresses and coordinates you ask it to look up are sent to Google's geocoding service through Apps Script's built-in Maps service. That processing is done by Google under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
  • Your license key, if you buy Pro, is sent to Gumroad's license API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm the purchase, at activation and about once a week after. Nothing else is sent to Gumroad.

What Plotfinch stores

  • A hidden sheet named "Plotfinch cache" inside your spreadsheet holds recent lookups (query, coordinates, formatted address, accuracy, timestamp) so repeated addresses don't use your daily quota again. Entries are refreshed after 30 days. You can delete it at any time with Extensions > Plotfinch > Clear geocode cache, or by deleting the sheet.
  • Google's Apps Script cache holds the same lookups for up to 6 hours.
  • Apps Script document and user properties hold the progress of a running job, your region setting and your license key.

All of this lives in your Google account or your spreadsheet. We cannot see it.

What we do not do

No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no selling or sharing of data, no access to other files in your Drive, and no use of your data to train AI or machine-learning models.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Plotfinch's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Removing Plotfinch

Uninstall it from Extensions > Add-ons > Manage add-ons, and revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Delete the "Plotfinch cache" sheet from any spreadsheet where you used it.

Children

Plotfinch is a business tool and is not directed to children under 13.
