Christmas 2026 and the 250th

A keepsake Christmas ornament for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, 1776-2026: the Appeal to Heaven flag, with its green pine and motto, flown by the first ships George Washington sent to sea in 1775. A Christmas tree on a Revolutionary flag.

Joseph Reed, Washington's secretary, proposed the white flag with a tree and the motto in October 1775, and Massachusetts adopted it for its navy in April 1776. No original survives, and the tree here is our own drawing.

White field, green pine tree and the motto AN APPEAL TO HEAVEN
