Plotfinch: geocode addresses in Google Sheets™
Turn a column of addresses into latitude, longitude, a cleaned-up address and an accuracy rating, with no API key.
What it does
- Geocoding: addresses to coordinates, written into new columns next to your data.
- Distance formula:
=PLOTFINCH_DISTANCE(A2, B2)gives the straight-line distance between two addresses or coordinates in miles, kilometers, meters or nautical miles. - Pro: unlimited rows per run, resume after a stop, reverse geocoding (coordinates to addresses) and KML export for Google Earth™ and Google My Maps.
How it works
- In Google Sheets, open Extensions > Plotfinch > Open Plotfinch.
- Choose the address column (or build the address from separate columns) and click Start.
- Repeated addresses come from a cache in your sheet, so they don't use your daily lookup quota again.
Free and Pro
Geocoding up to 100 rows per run is free. Plotfinch Pro costs $39 a year and is bought from inside the add-on.
Private by design
Plotfinch can only see the spreadsheet you're using it in. Addresses are looked up through Google's own geocoding service inside Apps Script; nothing is sent to us. The only other outside request is checking a Pro license key with Gumroad. Read the privacy policy and terms.
